A Deep Ocean Crossing

On Easter Sunday I crossed the channel from the island of Nevis to St. Kitts with a group of swimmers. It was a 2.5 mile swim with wild waves and deep fishy blue.

Sue and I were side by side. Here's a halfway photo ~ Nevis is just behind us.

Andrew and Sue's husband Kyle stayed in a kayak by our sides the whole entire way

and Calvin waited on the beach for hugs with all the cheerers at the end.

More March Pictures

Visit from a gecko

Grazing on the side of the road

A 20 foot swell came to the island last week. The waves were so big they were unsurfable.

Our swim team wrists with black pearls for open ocean protection.

Happy Easter!

Babies and Bubbles

Something delicious:
A little baby's body all clean and bubbly, slippery, smiling and splashing in a tub.

One tiny and wonderful joy.

Some snaps of our isle

On a drive home from school

Ross University's campus begins at the white fence. Campus is on a cliff looking out to sea where one can see for miles nothing but pure blue.

Buildings are painted with fancy colors. I wish our home in Boulder could be pink and turquoise, yellow shutters and purple trim. It livens things to look at streets full of such color.

Roundabouts are in place of stop signs and stop lights. This one still dons Christmas decorations. Andrew and I have bets on those staying up until the middle of May (click on the pic for a closer look at Kittitian style).
It's a silly island.

Monkeys, Surf, and Sitting Up

Monkeys on this island play in the streets like squirrels.

After school surf session

on Friday at sunset.

A glimpse of Frigate Bay~
(Our villa is right in the middle of this photo)

On the left is Atlantic and the right is Caribbean. This winding pot-holed road takes us to turquoise turtle beaches.
